Nexus Mech is a cooperative NFT-based shooting game that I co-developed with a partner. Together, we built every aspect of the game from the ground up, with a strong focus on customization, gameplay integration, and performance optimization.
One of the core features we implemented is a modular mecha customization system, allowing players to personalize their mechs using a wide variety of interchangeable parts. We also designed and integrated a comprehensive weapon customization system to complement this feature. In addition, we fully reskinned the user interface to align with the game's visual identity, creating a cohesive and immersive experience.
To power the game's shooting mechanics, we integrated the Dunpix Ultimate Shooting System, which we successfully merged with the Advanced Locomotion System. The result is a smooth and responsive gameplay experience where all systems work seamlessly together. From a technical and optimization perspective, we significantly reduced the polycount of the original mecha parts by performing retopology, achieving up to a 90% reduction in some cases. We also streamlined the asset pipeline by baking multiple textures into single maps to improve performance.
To demonstrate gameplay and attract potential investors, we developed a prototype environment that includes a dynamic enemy spawning system. This prototype showcases the core mechanics and visual fidelity of Nexus Mech, serving as a strong foundation for future development.
